Pipe freezes can damage your home

Keep thermostats at a higher than normal temperature. This will help to prevent a pipe freezes.

Keep inside doors open for better circulation of the heat. For bathroom or kitchen pipes that run on exterior walls, open cabinet doors, and if possible, keep a space heater in the area for supplemental heat to prevent a pipe freeze and burst.

Open water faucets and let water trickle until cold snap passes.

If you are going away for any length of time don’t turn thermostats down below 65. Have someone check on your house every day. Check into the possibility of having the house and heating system drained.

There are alert devices that will call a designated phone # if temperature in your home falls below a certain temperature.

Make sure all outside hose bibb lines are shut down and hoses are removed.
